Did I really lose 10 ours of my life when I emigrated to Australia?

It's mad when you think about it. What blows my mind is, and let me see if I can explain this right. The point where the international timeline is - say I travel to it from here, I am 12hrs in front of GMT. So for instance, its friday 11am here and I go to the furthest I can go and it's 11pm, if I pass the international timeline it's a full day before so I go back to thursday 11pm. I can skip and get back 24hrs just like that.

Haven't explained that well have I?
