The Late Show...With Your Host, Cena

I think Euro 2012 did a lot to win me over on international football. It was like an old fashioned tournament, not much snideness, great refereeing and lots of decent games. For me though, club football is still far superior and better quality - just my opinion.

Bang up for reading some pre-season previews, before the main event. I might do a few more write ups mate of events in my Olympic thread. Would love to see more things like gaming previews or tv-show previews and the like, anything really, I enjoy reading them.

Hahaha sounds like a boss night of Dex. Best night, well day/night I ever had was Chelsea in the FA Cup the other year. Was up at half 5 to get the 20 past 6 train from Ormskirk to Lime St. Then to get the half 7 train from Lime St to Euston.

So we are on the train and my mate goes "we've been up 2 hours, want a drink?" so the pair of us start on the cider/lager. By the time we got to Euston, we'd done, each, 2 cans of strongbow, 2 bottles of Sol, a can of those apple vodka things and shared a can of Fosters.

We got to Euston at 10 and went straight in search for an ale house. Found one and I turned to me mate and said "We're gonna be knackered, lets get a Jager down us 2 keep us awake." So we march to the bar and get a Jager each. The barman was an Aussie and told us he thought we were dead funny doing Jager's at 10 am and that he'd got back from a party at 7 and had to work at 10, so he'd need a Jager and asked if he could join is. The lid gave me and me mate an xtra jager for free and he had 2 himself. Wide awake now.

We get to Stamford Bridge bladdered. They serve Singha Beer there, and we necked a pint of that at HT. Still rotten, the match goes into extra time and Lampard scores. I slump to my chair fearing that we're out of the FA Cup. Me mate turns round and says, "we'l get one more chance, am telling you" - Then Leighton Baines happens.

About 2 minutes before the free kick happened, a Dad & Lad in front of us were sitting down. It was the lad's 1st ever Everton match, he was only about 6 or 7 - poor lad was crying his eyes out coz we were getting beat. I said "don't worry mate, we'l win another day". Next thing we get a free kick, 118th minute, our last chance. I'm thinking there is no way, because this never happens to Everton. Baines as you all know, slots and absolute peach, PANDEMONIUM!

I picked the young lad up and jumped for absolute joy and then his Dad grabbed him and well basically, it was limbs. I apologised to the Dad for grabbin his lad, but he didn't care he was made up we'd scored and the little fella had the biggest smile on his face which made it all worthwhile.

The penalties happen and as well all know, Neville slotted the winning pen. I went into an out of body experience I swear - it was just pure joy, happiness, I was in some sort of trance I didnt say anything I just celebrated for ages. The little lad was full of joy and that made me even more happy.

After the match we walk out, Evertonians singing everywhere, quick dash to the offy and more ale and we walked back to the tube which seem miles away but we wern't arsed. Evertonians bouncing on the tube back to Euston!

We get to used and stocked up on more ale. Next thing me mate goes "Isnt that Jack Rodwell on our train?" - The Everton team as they do for London games got the 1st class back to Runcorn and were on are train. I had a 6-pac of strongbow and Ossie is looking at me, gesturing me to give him one! All the fans were singing Everton to them and the players just sat there pi$$in themselves at us.

They get off at Runcorn to a hero's applause, everyone it seemed on the train got off and sung Everton at them.

Anyway - I lived in Ormskirk at the time and we all headed back there and drunk, and drunk and drunk. A mate sung 'I Guess That's why they call us the Blues" and the pub being full of us were going mad. The DJ who was a good mate of mine and an Evertonian then said "this is for all the Evertonians" for which a big cheer went up and then he played Z-Cars. The place erupted.

You see when we have a get together us blues and a party, there is no better party!! We stayed for the lock in till 4 in the morning, I dread to think of all the sambuca's, Jager's etc I'd done. It was the best day i've has supporting Everton and was the best night out I've ever had - I was surrounded by blues with all me mates and was drunk! I'd started drinkin at half 7 and finished round about half 4, it was well worth the hangover the next day!!
Hahahaha that's a great story.

Can't think of many better things than a good Everton away day. I had a ticket for that Chelsea game and sold it to my mate because I was unsure and he really wanted to go. Bad mistake!

Pure quality that is mate, really can't afford away games down South so it is usually Wigan as far as I go on away trips.
Shows how much of a class club we are, no one compares too us.

Sounds like a boss day mate, days like that make supporting Everton the best thing in the world. Evertonians - we are one family.

Is right Roz! We are a great bunch, loads of us are sound 2!

Boss story Cena. You never have to ask yourself why you put yourself through all the neg stuff that comes with being an Evertonian with moments like that. THAT is the point of it all.

That same season I went to London on my own when we got beat by Brentford on penalties, it made me appreciate Chelsea more after going through that. I don't know how these Mancs from Kent can feel the same joy as us I really can't!

Those away days are what it makes it all worthwhile. Nothing comes anywhere near it.

The best mate, when your with ur lids, and everything is right with the world, they are why we exist.

Gutted mate, u missed a good one. The aways are the best, they just are immense.

The north west games are ace away days. Wigan is one of my favourites, some great boozers in Wigan.

Sunderland away in the quarter this year was a fecking brilliant away. Best Everton game I've been to.

This one's actually my age...

Marks out of ten, I'd give her one.

Cena, when I come (next year probably in April or May), I'd like to come for two weekends and catch one game and goodison and an away game...possible to sort me with an away ticket? How difficult would it be for me to get one for an away day...I want both experiences.

Depends what game.

Wigan away, for example, would be toughish but the likes of United, City, Liverpool etc. would be impossible.

Unless someone else gets them for you, of course.

Just looking the games we have then, away we've got Sunderland, the sh1te & Chelsea last day. I'll make sure whatever game ur here for I'll get you a ticket.

Will have to look at the fixture list and see what two weekends in April/May look like I guess.

Tottenham and Sunderland away in April are probably your best bet. Miles from Liverpool obviously but that's the reason you could possibly get tickets.

Liverpool in May is basically for season ticket holders who have hardly missed a single away all season and with Chelsea being the last game that'd be unlikely.

What about this? Tottenham away a tough ticket? I could fly into London, meet up and then head to Merseyside for the week.

Saturday 6 April 2013 - Tottenham away and Saturday 13 April 2013 QPR home.

I know a few lads who won't go to Anfield but go all the other away who'd sort JD out, i'd prob swerve Anfield as well like
