Mogsy's Movie Madness
Havent done one of these in a while.
With the release of Kick ass 2 recently i will go with a little bit of this topic.
Kick Ass (First one) was a very disputed film. Many believed this film deserved an 18 rating, due to a foul mouthed young girl mass murdering several criminals in very gruesome ways. Also the way most of the deaths were filmed, very comedic but still gruesome. One scene even showing one of our protagonists slowly burn to death in slow motion. One man named Christopher Tookey from what i also remember was a critic for the daily mail even stated that 'Hit girl' who was this young girl i was talking of earlier was over sexualised. Ultimately, the film was given a 15 rating. Due to the directors claiming that the deaths and violence were never intended to be serious. This being why the violence was often masked by comedic music, blood was very brightly coloured as if fake, and it ultimately being a teen movie. All was right in the world again.
And who said media studies was a useless and non-academic subject?! aha.
