Sunday Day Chat.... With Dex

Coming up on todays show we bake cakes and tell you how to sooth your finger, should you get it cut

Tonight's topic,

You see a £97 shirt, but don't have any cash. So you borrow £50 from your Mum and £50 from your Dad = £100. You buy the shirt and have £3 change, so you give Mum £1, your Dad £1 and keep the other £1 for yourself. You owe your Mum £49, your Dad £49, so £49 + £49 = £98 and your £1 makes it £99, where is the missing £1?

Am I missing something here? Confused?

There is no missing pound.
You owe your parents 50 + 50 pounds. You give them 1 pound each and kept 1.
The equation is 2 pounds you returned + 1 you kept + 97 for the shirt = 100
Or,
You have 3 pounds. You owe your parents 100. If you gave them the three you have, you would owe them 97 for the shirt. Since you kept one, you owe them 98.
