The LCAB Transfer Window Countdown Thread

Not open for further replies.
Did someone say Benni McCarthy for the Yak?

Tell me that was a joke, and it just didn't click because I've just woken up.

Tell me it was a joke.

Get Lucas back then too while we're at it. In all seriousness there are 3 to 4 players DM could have offloaded if he desired for around 12m albeit a loss on fees and wheeler deal for loans etc but clearly it would weaken the squad depth we have. The fact we are weak on the right and probably need a quality striker to get us through 1st half of the season at least, won't I feel force Davy into action if it is going to reduce the permanent numbers. A win today and I'm sure we'll see a different more confident Everton in the coming weeks.

This is a lot of waffle about nothing.

And besides, it ruins the amusement of logging in on transfer deadline day to see the obscure new transfer rumour threads. "MICHAEL BALL???!?!?!"

A candidate for a locked thread?

Or how about multiple nonsense threads and spamming of rubbish transfer rumours ?

... bans all round?

Keeps the snides all in one thread D/D

Mate , YOU KNOW I get you on this .

However , locking it wil just divert it into my inbox . Then wtf would Brownie do ???

Uny 2 days , kid .

Sorry, this might sound a bit hostile, but seriously:

If yous REALLY want a laugh , Ive been told , it is possible that we won't even be able to afford loans .

You don't need to be sauced up to know that - unless somebody is moved on - we don't have the wherewithal to pay the wages for anyone, who would improve the squad, be it on loan or on a free.

LCAB ... does source ever spill the beans about WHY we can't even afford loans - let alone new signings - when teams like Wolves, etc can? Hell, even Championship teams spend more. Really don't get it.

You don't need to be sauced up to know the main (though not solitary) reason, so I'll play LCAB (hope he doesn't mind)

Wolves staff costs at the end of last season (est.) ~ 25 million
EFC staff costs at the end of last season (est.) ~ 55 million
Guaranteed payment from the Premier League to the 20th placed team in the 10/11 season: just over 40 million pounds.
Capisci?

With the 50p tax bracket and the fall of the pound relative to the euro it was clear that we needed to renegotiate some of our contracts; Moyes chose to do this for pretty much everyone. The result is that if Anichebe gets the raise he asked for, we're looking at wages to turnover ratio of over 70% (even with the new TV deals) - and let's not even mention Schillo. The other result is that we find it difficult to sell players, who are surplus to requirements, with other clubs unwilling to match their inflated salaries.

Oh, and since the reason for this entire thread is this tidbit in the Camoranesi thread,

No , I agree . I'd say 2/3 loans , but those ARE the plans for the right side .

so LCAB - your words can launch a thousand threads and replies, use them wisely.

I do agree that our staff costs us alot more than the likes of Birmingham and Wolves and we've got around the same amount of money as those two and I've thought all pre-season that's why we can't affoerd to spend big

I'd say 65% - but the margin of error in that because they're not going to tell us that until the new accounts are out could be +/- 5%.

The new foreign tv deal is in STAGED payments (not all one payment) throughout the season.

Hence a bottleneck in cashflow terms for EFC this summer.

But turnover should be up by about £10-15million on the £78million figure. But entirely reliant on that tv deal - UNLESS kitbag have been playing a blinder with the merchandise sales. Plus we're yet to see the precise % of what EFC get from that - or is it ONLY a upfront payment (like JJB [Poor language removed] deal) or the more likely knowing Elstone - us getting a % of profits as well as minimum payments

Also - has domestic tv deal structure changed? i.e. is that now in staged payments - not all in one...

will have to check.

Cash flows lids. Its about budgeting and why LCAB was on the ball (crystal ball) with the "JANUARY lads" comments he's mentioned previously.

Not sure if many of you lids read this earlier this month:

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/live...challenge-for-football-clubs-100252-27100056/

Liverpool accountant PKF warns of taxman’s challenge for football clubs
FOOTBALL club finance directors are cautiously optimistic about their financial position this season – but a clampdown by the taxman could change all that says the ninth annual survey of football’s finance directors by Liverpool accountant PKF.

Finance directors in all leagues were quizzed, including Everton, Liverpool and Tranmere, and most expect stable or growing revenues for all revenue streams.

But PKF football sector specialist Billy Cairns warned: “Does the rose-tinted view adequately reflect the problems that could arise from the combination of a potential double dip recession and the austerity measures from the government?”

And with just 22% of clubs expected to make a pre-tax profit, it is feared HM Revenue & Customs could step up tax recovery moves, despite the failure of its legal challenge of Portsmouth for payment ahead of football-related costs.

Mr Cairns said: “This is an ongoing problem as HMRC will be exercising tighter control in coming months and is contesting the ‘football creditor’ rule in insolvency.”

He said a further, more worrying trend is the increasing percentage of clubs whose benchmarking range is above 65% for wages to turnover.

This has risen from just 17% in 2008, to 25% in 2009 and 38% this year.

However, the survey found that only 40% of Premier League clubs and 12% of football league sides will spend more on players’ salaries in 2010-11, compared with 75% and 44%, respectively, last year.

Question is ? Is Everton in that 40% this season? Give the number of contract renewals we've done this summer? - I'd say YES. But that was to keep hold of players like RODWELL AND ARTETA. So justifiable.

Probably. But this is offset by the increased TV revenues to a large degree. BUT has meant we've not had the budget to go out splurging cash on big transfer fees.

BUT it also shows many of our rivals have had to of begun cost cutting measures!

Mate , theres the Crown .

Get yourself a Source , and lid , it's yours . Take it with my blessing .

I DID NOT , very rarely , if ever do , tbh , RAISE this issue , NOR the Thread itself . We just try and keep things real where we can , and respond to Evertonians in an honest as possible manner , despite incidentally , an acknowledged firm of snides looking to Skank us .

Yet , one stil cannot win . I get the whole , with fame comes [Poor language removed] , thing , now .

As I said it's yours if you feel you can wear it , kid .

Seriously this is not what I intended this thread to turn into.

Simply put. If you're in the know, and are allowed to say things. Whack it in here. That's it.

I don't think people should just hog this thread asking any news? every 10 minutes if LCAB has some news i'm sure he'll say but give it a rest with this transfer shiznit, i's really sad to be clinging on for even the tiniest drop of information, get on with talking about players that we've got and how they get on today and discuss new signings if/when they come, otherwise you'll work yourself into a fit. rant over.
