Just in case any of you are wondering how the music industry is doing these days…

Turns out you only get paid for every new video created, if you merely share another video you don't get paid.

Nothing to see here
You can license your own music to be used on TikTok (Kind of like adding it to Spotify and other streaming services for people to use.)

This is other people using his music in their videos, getting 4 million plays and him only getting $0.33 for it.

No dressing it up, that is scandalous, no wonder content ID is an absolute mess lol

One of my kids is starting to learn to play the guitar so I said I'd learn as well, any tips? Was gonna try a few of the apps that are available now.

I played drums for a few years so I thought I'd better learn a proper instrument.

Are we best to just get professional lessons ?

Exact same situation as me mate, my son has been getting lessons for a few months now, I'm gonna get myself a guitar as well and get lessons from the same bloke.

As a guitar tutor, I'm biased so yes, best get actual lessons (I can do zoom lessons too 😁)

If you don't get lessons then a word of warning for youtube and apps. They can't tell you if you've done it wrong, nor can it tell you why a note or a chord sounds weird.

Plus some YouTube videos have been incorrect in the first place, I've had students learn something from YouTube, show me what they did and then having to recorrect all the mistakes

You know what, sod it, get lessons 🤣

Just my humble opinion. I used Justin Guitar and recorded everything I did and then listened to it and kept doing it and listening til they sounded similar. He has a full beginners course and then intermediate course plus advanced.

I never took a lesson, lessons will probably fast track you but I enjoyed my way and I have a really good ear now. I found the early learning was mechanical eg finger position, strum, pick. Play with as many other guitarists and play to a record as much as possible. Everything is on youtube now too.
