Completely forgot that the draft is right around the corner. Looking forward to the weirdness of it all.

Also bought Sean Payton's book about the Saints and Katrina so looking forward to giving it a start

let me know how you like that book. I generally don't read sports biographies, but when they're good they're worth reading.

Not that I can think of, though, I don't really get people's books who I dislike anyway

People rave about Peter Crouch but he played for them so I'm not giving him a tenner
Racing through the dark.

By cyclist David Millar.

(Don't tell Bruce Wayne or Aminisgod though.)

Favorite writers or subject? Do you prefer book writers or good journalists? Is Mitch Albom as good as they say he is?
I've never read an nfl book by an ex player etc oddly enough.
Watched loads of old videos and documentaries.
I like Payton and the hurricane story sounds like a good read ( if you know what I mean ) from his perspective.
Will have a go at reading this.

I'll read pretty much anything as long as it interests me – lot of football, NFL, music going on atm. Amy Poehler thrown in there.

Books are better than journalists for the most part. Though, give me a good Simmons mailbag too.

I need the writer to have a bit of an edge to be interested usually.
You mentioned Crouch earlier, now I don't mind him, but he just seems a normal bloke. I'd be interested in the part where be stuck by his bird when she got caught out doing gear. That's paid right off for him.
I love some snooker books too. The ale, gambling etc.
I tried to read Harry Redknapp, but got the feeling he was just holding back on some of the actual truth. Pompey bankrupt. Saints bankrupt. Etc.
His genuine story would be incredible.

Yeah, agree.

A Season with Verona is the best sports book I’ve read. English journalist comes mates with the Hellas Verona Italian ultras as they try and stay up in serie A

Stories about them being arrested, manager leaving, running riot vs Inter. It’s so good

Superb that Verona book btw.

A Season with Verona is brilliant.

The Miracle of Castel di Sangro is similar and another cracker of a read. Some crazy things went on during that season.

I've been on the search for something similar to Season with Verona for ages. Might have to have a look at that.
