The Now-Irrelevant 2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

Hopefully the is the last time we’re involved in one of these threads, what an awful few years we’ve had and I wouldn’t wish flirting with relegation on my worst enemy.
I agree and we hopefully shouldn’t be in the conversation now after the takeover but Villa and Newcastle have both been relegated recently and have recovered from it. It would have been disastrous with Moshiri as the owner but with solid owners, a team can recover.

Ipswich need to come from 0-2 down to win 3-2 otherwise we’re mathematically safe today. Even a 2-2 draw and we’re still mathematically safe.
Goodbye Ipswich and your media darling Ed Sheeran.

Next time you're in the top flight he'll be doing summer seasons at Pontin's with Little mix, Diversity and George Ezra.

They’ve got a side who they’ll fancy to come straight back up which is probably what they were aiming for to be honest.
And then what? I’m sorry but that “strategy” makes zero sense. Their squad has already been proven to be nowhere near Premier league standard, so if they do come up again, then what? I’m pretty sure their owners haven’t got a bottomless pit of cash. There are no guarantees they’ll bounce back either. You don’t spend nearly 160 million to accept you’re going down and build a decent championship team. Sorry but you just don’t.

They'll also lose anyone who hasn't disgraced themselves this season.

You don’t need to be sorry mate, I couldn’t care less. I would imagine they knew it was going to be hard to stay up and so concentrated on trying to bring in players who they thought would keep/increase their value and put them in a position to come back up and then strengthen again with a view to staying up. I’d say it’s a better plan than bankrupting yourselves signing a load of expensive ‘PL proven’ players personally although obviously not ideal as a fan.

It is a strange one...if my team is spending 160 millions in transfers, competing with us and getting some players we were also interested in, I would expect much better showing than this. Their manager is not all that...perhaps decent in lower leagues but clearly pl too big for him right now.

I wouldn’t give them any credit whatsoever. 160 million? Where on earth has that been spent? Delap aside, they’ve pi$$ed it all up the wall. They’ve been given huge backing and the owners must be livid. Huge opportunity wasted.
Depends on the owners strategy I guess, maybe they're looking at it more as a long term plan and accept that with young players comes risks. It's a better strategy then Leicesters that's for sure
