I just watched my grandson playing in goal for his school side in an Ulster Cup Final at under 14 level. The competition included school sides from the nine counties of Ulster and he ended up playing against his home town school. He attends a school in a different town.
I used to watch his father play in goal and didn't enjoy it one bit. You want to see him making saves and doing well but you don't really want the ball at his end in case he makes a mistake. It is horrible.
Tonight I discovered it is worse watching your grandson than it was watching your son. It was really easy playing yourself.

The bond between Grandfather and Grandson or Granddaughter is very emotional..........being older yourself, you really learn to care, even more than you did 20 odd years ago.......
