The Oldies Thread

A while ago I announced my retirement on here. I had asked my employer for partial retirement, but they refused as they said my job couldn’t be done on a three day week basis. So I put in my papers to fully retire, I had to give four months notice. I was more than half way through my notice period when they came back to me to offer me a different role, same grade, same pay scale and on a three day per week basis. Next week is my last week of doing a five day week. From the following Monday I will work three days and have four off. Financially Mrs C and I will have the same disposable income but have more time to enjoy it. I have worked as a Town Planner for 43 years doing the full five days, while I am really looking forward to a much better life work balance I have to say I find it strange that next Thursday and Friday will be last Thursday and Friday I have to get up and go to work.

Been retired since January, after working full time for last 40 odd years.

It's been fantastic so far, the body-clock still gets me up around 6-00am, but sleeping much better.

No daily commute on bus-train, and no worrying about the stack of emails awaiting me each Monday morning.

Love the mornings of leisure, taking my time doing everything, instead of dashing out of the door at 7-30am.

Getting out of the house, walking every day, reading for leisure, and just feeling less stressed and grumpy.

Just Everton continuing to ruin my life,
