The Oldies Thread

You ARE old. In the body. But not in your mind.

I am 75 in a few months, but in my head I'm still that lunatic 21 year-old gigging 3-4 times a week in the nightclubs of Liverpool.

I'm still researching and writing, so I try to keep my mind as active as possible.

Been married 50 years to 'er indoors. Must have got something right!

Fab pics, and congrats to you both.

Have you still got the guitar in first pic?

Used to pay 1p on the bus, got a little square ticket.

Chips for 7p a bag before they taxed hot food.

80p I think I remember paying to get into the Street End as a nipper?

Going out all weekend and still having change from £20

Using lolly-ice sticks to get the 2ps and 10ps out of the phone boxes

Net curtains sticking to the ice on the inside of the windows. No central heating then.

Being slim, and looking all cool as a mod. If I tried now I would be Roly Poly Mod.

Freddo's were cheap

Making things up at confession instead of saying what you had really done

Being able to bunk on the ferry and hide in the bogs

Trying to catch the girl on the BBC test card blinking

The Sweeney. Way more violent than police shows now.

Monkey Magic

Small Faces

Too much to mention

I enjoyed the punk period, as I was in my early twenties.

Lucky to see most of the big bands at Erics.

Sad to say, I don't think the bulk of the music has aged well.
I’m so jealous mate, I was just a bit too young for that. I look at those Eric’s flyers nowadays and the lineups are amazing

Disagree with your opinion of most of that music not aging well though 😊

Can anyone above Pension age tell me if the DWP write and tell you what state pension you will receive. I got a year till retirement and have tried to get a pension forcast but to sign into Government Gateway you need a driving licence or passport and I have neither.

I honestly can't remember.
Surely you don't need a driving licence or passport to set up a Government Gateway Account?
That's ridiculous if correct. There must be tens of thousands who have neither.

You can set up the account but not get this information without one of the two. Like you say there must be a lot of older folk not got either
