The 'Post Funny stuff' Thread

Sometimes I just stare at your name trying to work out its pronunciation. My current guess is Verraooey. Put me out of my misery, please.
You are technically correct: most people say Ver-oh-ee but some, including me say Ver-ox-ee. It is the name of a lemur species: Propithecus verreauxi, named after Verreaux, a French naturalist.

Thank you! Funnily enough I looked it up and found both of those things out, I’m sure it was the name of a Geko and some other animals I’m presuming he discovered. Every day a school day

It always looked like it might be French to me?

So like 'faux pas' which means 'false step' is pronoucd 'foe-pa'.

@verreauxi , correct me if I'm wrong, but am I in the right area?

I’d mulled over that in one of my previous attempts but the aux made me think of an oo sound from my not paying attention I’m French class days. Funnily enough the i on the end had me in turmoil

Only seen 3 things so far

Mum leathered pouring tea onto the table

Dat tripping his tits off trying to read the paper upside down and has put the cat in a cage

And the little girl is possessed as she taunting her brother whilst stirring her brew with a knife

Oh, and the little girl may have eaten something which fell out of dad's pocket as she is also off her wigwam whilst trying to feed her teddy

The slices of bread don’t match the shape of the loaf, the candle is plugged into the wall, there’s smoke coming off the electric fire, the picture by dad is upside down

Was close, wasn’t I? 😜

I can confirm that I’ve made similar such observations. 😂
