In 1995, post-Pogues Shane McGowan had formed the Popes and was hanging out with Johnny Depp.
The Pope's tin whistle player tells how at Pinkpop Festival in Holland, the Popes had an early afternoon (like 12 o clock) slot, so when they got there the night before they had a few beers. Shane bought a hash cake (a cake now, not a muffin, not a slice) had a bit of it and went off to bed.
In the morning he woke up and ate the rest of the cake. This is what happened …….
