'Liberals' are in my experience the most intolerant people I have met. They KNOW what I am supposed to believe, say and write, and any divergence from their 'right-on' beliefs will lead to excoriation, isolation or as happened this lady, punishment.

The media in Ireland is full of these types who shove their beliefs down our throats, and failure to follow their message makes one a pariah.

In this regard at least, I think the likes of @peteblue, @davek and I can agree. I am happy to debate openly and honestly with people with different views, but I will not force mine on them. The world would be a much nicer place if we could simply allow people to think for themselves without fear of retribution.
As religious based morals die off in the west, the void in moral compass is being filled by transient, big wealthy organisations and those who shout loudest, most incessantly or obsessively through social media (so called influencers).

None of those show any true thought, intelligence or any other foundation as to why we should follow their opinions at all. They do what they do simply to acquire wealth or notoriety for themselves. What's most alarming, is that so many do follow them. Why? Because they might like their eye makeup, their wealth, their clothes, their way of talking, fear?

Intelligent species? Nope. Over 99% of humans are monkey see monkey do. The reason we're not still bashing rocks together is down to the <1% over thousands of years who have actually shown some intelligence or inspiration.

Premier League see a way to get some good PR and hope to face off regulation. Likewise Newcastle look for some good PR which serves as a distraction from ownership. And Toby Young there to exploit the hypocrisy of both for his own agenda, old woke get it from new woke...

Your posts are normally quite interesting but this just sounds like old man shouts at cloud, complaining about random vaguely described irritations

Do you get a lot of grief in Ireland, because of your decision to be religious?

I'm nowhere near the 1%. We're talking Einstein, Newton, Gallilei, Socrates, Rutherford, Bohr, Joule, Trevithick, Galen ... that kind of stuff - people who think up unique, significant developments.

The rest of us think we're smart if we can operate a fancy phone, or other tool that's taken dozens of people to design using other people's ideas. Even Newton, in a rare moment of modesty, admitted that "if I see further than others it's because I stand on the shoulders of giants."

I've taught thousands of humans over 30 years; some smart, some dumb, many average. Only one made me stop in awe of their ability - an 11 year old Russian girl. I only taught her for a year before the head teacher of a neighbouring school "took over" the running of our school for the authorities, and had her transferred to his school to boost his own "league table". Smashing that!

I think you will find that was Noel Gallagher
