I bought one of those (Raleigh Lenten) in 1952 aged 16. Found a savings certificate I didn't know I had for £4 and managed to rustle together the 19/6. It was metallic green and I rode all over the north of England on it. Lake District, East Coast etc., Once got a puncture in the Lake District and had run out of patches. Fortunately, I was near a Post Office and bought a twopenny stamp. That did the trick and stayed on for a couple of years.
