Funny you say this as i cant work that out either, ive been up Snowdon a few times when its covered in ice and minus temperature, in really good mountain gear, and its freezing, but Everest is another 26,000ft higher, with cloths on that absorb water, i dont get it. Unless he was just dead hard!

Andrew Irvine was the one from Birkenhead, body never been found!

....Irvine was from Birkenhead, but apparently Mallory also lived there for part of his life (St John’s Parsonage, 34 Slatey Road);

When boiling water is only warm you are too high! Incredible fearlessness.

I always remember messners quote when he was asked why he went up there to die, he replied 'i didn't, i went up there to live'. Just a very different attitude isn't it
