I'd hope they've at least sought out the likes of Terzic, Mancini.

Plenty have told me over the months that the money we pay, we could tempt them - even Allegri!

There's also the likes of Rudy Garcia and Niko Kovac. Sarri, too.

There's 6 out of contract.

No idea on PSR realities or cost to sack Dyche and compensation to bring in another - but I'd hope they'd also consider if they could nab Thomas Frank.

Prior to TFG, I accepted we were in Dyche/Moyes territory. Had hoped we'd moved on since.
Maybe, but we are a tough sell to a top manager right now and not in a position to take a risk on a more unknown quantity as we would be down, no wiggle room at all.

David Moyes: defends his cat abusing players, insults Evertonians, try’s to lowball bids for our players.

I didnt dispute his serie B and C titles.
He was sacked by leicester. Even since leicester he's been sacked by Nantes Fulham and Watford.
I quite like Ranieri. More clubs than Tiger woods though.

You can't have a Sean Dyche type manager, managing this team, half of which won't be here next season, on an interim basis when the world knows he's on his way to the gallows.

Dyche did the job we brought him in for. We were 19th with our lowest ever points total at that stage and looked dead and buried. He also got us through the circus of last season.

They were going to sack him in the summer for Rangnick before they walked away. They should have sacked Dyche day one they come in and had a replacement already lined up.

There maybe similarities in being solid defensively but I think Moyes has far more about him outside of that than Dyche does but that’s just me.

I’m not debating that, he absolutely did the job he was brought into do however this season he’s got dramatically worse with arguably a better squad.

I’ve no problem playing ugly if it gets us results but he wasn’t. TFG’s number 1 targets might not want to come here in Jan, there’s an article there in the French media saying we’ve spoke to Fonseca but they think he would rather wait till the summer.

We unfortunately don’t have that option, unless Moyes is happy to take a 6 month deal.

Sacking Managers after only a year in charge brings instability. Koeman, Allardyce and Silva regardless of what you think of them or their football. It was always going to end like this.

I’m just saying a decorated and celebrated manager is an acceptable “comfort blanket” (thanks @GrandOldTeam) versus this comedy appointment.

Will he keep us up - likely, I think any semi competent manager would.

If he does will he simply say so long and leave, for me hugely unlikely - Moyes has wanted back at the club for years - if he gets back sure as hell he will do everything to cling onto it once he is.

Will he be the right men to rebuild the team, I doubt it seriously - since Moyes was here first time recruitment has moved onto a different level with vast scouting networks now being commonplace as well as data analyst companies specialising in this field. The days of a manager drawing up a few lists on a board and going and getting them has long had its day.

Throw in you should with rare exceptions 'never go back' - there's a damned good reason it's a well known expression, because it's nearly always true that second time round is never ever as good and often a disaster (be that football managers, players or life).

I said also on the Mourinho thread, that perception does matter hugely, and the way this will be perceived will cement the club as still stuck in the blue Bill era in spirit if not name

Lastly can't get past after a sleep and last night's beer the simple fact he pissed all over us the last year he was here and his true feelings about the club really came out then and when he left.

Moyes never really got the club, he was just very good at presenting a face to the fans and media like he did, but a lot of the small time mentality instilled in us these days traces right back to Moyes tenure here.

….its a really good point about transfer strategy moving on, the DOF model along with analytics etc. I was going to post Moyes is probably one of the last old school managers who hasn’t been DOF dependent, something @davek has triumphed for a long time.

I’m still of a view that analytics and video clips alone are not sufficient to part with £millions on a footballer. I loved that you’d be watching on TV an irrelevant match in the lower leagues and the camera would pan to the stands and Moyes would be there. There is the story of him turning up on a freezing night to watch Milwall and spotting Cahill.

Moyes is a football man, he knows a player and I quite like it if he mixes old with new.

Where are you getting this from? Are you privy to the financial health of the club in 6 months from now?

Doesn’t really have anything to do with financial health to be honest

Newcastle’s owners have so much money they sleep on Evian waterbeds and they’ve not been able to spend because of the bogus PSR and FFP rules

We still have an outstanding charge in relation to the new ground don’t forget
