They really didn’t, this is a bizarre myth that sprouted up some time later. He may have been the more popular choice out of him and pereira (mainly because he was said to be joorabchians choice) but he was absolutely not the man that the fans wanted out of all the managers in the world.
But we don’t have the pick of all the managers in the world. And out of all the names mentioned most of this forum wanted Lampard.

A dark day in the club's history about to happen.

"Dont you worry, I know what Everton are like".

He puts that boot in our bollocks and these Texan clowns are going to hand millions more to him for his bank account.

Oh, and if we sell Branthwaite to United, dont grumble because it's what Alex Ferguson would've wanted too.

Enjoy your new manager. Be careful what you wish for, eh?

wow. i’m not happy with moyes

but over dyche?

it’s a no brainer

I'm a bit nonplussed by all of this.

This is the master plan they've been working on since summer? Another 5 months (at best) of no discernable progress anywhere on the footballing side? Which players are Moyes and his ragtag coaching team going to improve? How does this take us towards a defined long term style of play? Who the hell is going to want to join in the January window under these circumstances? Why today? Why do it in such a classless fashion?

I was really hoping we'd be moving away from decision making of this sort.

By all means, kick Dyche to the curb but not for this. Talk about exhausting goodwill in short order.

It clearly isn’t no.

They clearly had a number 1 target that they wanted in the up coming summer but things change in football quickly.

They’re not going to get people in a job already so it has to be a manager out of contract & Moyes is the option.

I’m abit surprised we’ve all suddenly forgot how bad we are & there’s people on here thinking we’d be getting Jose hahaha

If he gets an 18 month contract. They could still change in the summer.
Contracts are worth very little bar to pay someone off. There will be clauses too you can be sure
Would be a bit of an inauspicious start, to employ a new manager for less time than you want him to be in charge for, triggering a year’s payoff for him and his staff. May as well have kept the last fella, he was boss at going that.

Be careful what you wish for ?

Just an Everton that score a few goals, win a few games, and don't get relegated. Not a huge amount to ask for really.

Who do you want dave? And what angelic owners do you want as well while you're slating the club, again.

We will never be media darlings and, tbh, it's easy to see why. We dont win anything, we play crap football. We just make up the numbers for the best part, ex players too happy to stick to the club narrative when things are going pear shaped. Hopefully the new owners can help change that once they get settled.
I hear you
I don't want us to be media darlings though, just want them to not shove managers down our throats and tell us we're lucky to have them.
The relegation risks began really with Benitez in recent times and they were telling us he was the right man until he was hounded out. Most of them anyway

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 that’s a classic that, what do they loathe him for? Due to the 2-0 win against the grain last season? He normally gets his pants pulled down by them, there’s nothing to loathe.

They think he’s an atrocious footy manager, one dimensional and outdated - they loathe his style, maybe as much as we most of us do, but they didn’t loathe him because of anything he did against them.

Also, even if they did, I don’t care what they think about him, I want our manager to be loathed by every team for beating them all.
Dont you remember when Dyche chased Klopp down the tunnel at Anfield?

They've wanted his head on a plate since then. Joyce is delighted to deliver it.

Wake up FFS.
