Do you understand PSR limitations? Mentality has to fit with that currently. History bears no correlation to our current footing.

Also, if you think Moyes is bottom of the barrel, I suggest you compare his Premier League stats with Dyche, to see bottom of the barrel.
There really aren’t many with better stats.

Moyes' Everton is my childhood, i can barely remember the end of the Smith era other than we were as bad if not worse than now but can still remember going to the Fulham game with my Dad and Unsy scoring that volley early on. Definitely be surreal after all these years to see him back in the Everton gear.

I think that sentimentality will always have me favour those times of being best of the rest and regularly in europe, we might not have won anything but i've always said growing up with that Everton compared to what kids have now feels like night and day.

Not expecting any miracles but if he can get that fight back in the players, get Goodison up for games again and slowly mould the club into that blend of rough hard working with technical ability on the attack that would be a good starting point in these couple of years.

Imagine how different it might have been if he'd come in when Carlo was hired
Those few months at the start of the season with Ancelotti under COVID were great. James Rodriguez was amazing - best player since the 80s (sorry Andrei I still love you).

One time since Royle were we acted like a top team and like we could really have done something. Wouldn’t have had that if Moyes was hired.

Paid for it big time though 😂

I will never forgive him for the way we lost that semi against a poor Liverpool team. Summed him up completely

I can understand fans wanting a safe pair of hands after the turmoil of the last few years but the league is that bad any decent manager keeps up

For me the new manager needed to be positive to lift the fan base. Moyes won’t do that. He doesn’t like youth, reactive subs at 70 minutes and no fight away at big clubs. We did play some very good / underrated football under him though.

Not sure about the idea that the league is ‘bad’. I also think it’s quite a tough job to keep us up this year.

I hope he says Everton is his home.

So I can get the quotes when he said West Ham was his home and call him out as a two timer.

I just don't understand this mentality. We are a historic great club going into a great stadium with new billionaire owners. We weren't paying Dyche peanuts. There's no big pay off. And we turn to the bottom of the barrel for someone with zero hope and optimism. And what 2/3 of the fans on here are accepting or happy? Absolutely blows my mind. Clearly many don't remember the days when the club had something about it.
I think what it is I've been lucky as one of the older posters I've seen the teams of the 60s 1970 and the 80s and it is really frustrating to hear people saying that they are happy to be 6th or 7th. I think this is a very underwhelming appointment but I understand why people just want someone to keep us up for this season . But we need to look forward. I am not really happy whith these new owners. Also you should never go back. Howard did but he shouldn't have really but at least he was always an E evertonian. All we were to Moyes was a stepping stone. Also this man disrespected our club the same as the waiter. Saying that if he gets the job I will support him.

Over years we’ve become obsessed or persuaded that survival is an achievement. We’re all guilty , me as much as anyone , putting pictures of relegation battles on walls like they’re cup wins . Players in the dressing room acting like it’s a champions league final .

Seeing failure as success has become the Everton way , we’re like a fighter focused by maintaining their unbeaten record . I really hoped the new owners meant we could leave this behind and we’d see the new regime usher in an era of change but nope normal service resumed .

I honestly believe that the stadium was one of the worst thing to happen to us short term.

It allowed everyone to finally accept the excuses that kenwright and his lot had been peddling for year. We as a fan base accepted being in relegation battels because of of "the stadium".

After every issue the club had the next day "oh, look at the new video of the stadium". We accepted it because we knew what the stadium ment in the long run but once youve let those standards slip its hard to get them back

Maybe it’s because I’m 27 and my best footballing memories were watching us under Moyes but I’ve been so shocked at the negative reaction to his appointment. He’s 10x the manager Dyche is and actually gives a toss about the club which is a big positive in the position we’re in. Genuinely think going full circle could be what helps us turn a corner and have a brighter future ahead.
