Thing is for me.....they've dropped Baines, who I think would have got a game if Cole was injured/struggling with fitness, where as I don't see Warnock getting a game if Cole is dropped? I think he'd put Carragher there, or even Milner like he did that once....so why take Warnock?

I'd have definitely taken Adam Johnson, and I would have tried to fit Bent in there somewhere. Ok I don't believe he's quite international level, but they can't judge him on the 2 half chances he's had, after scoring so many goals at club level. I hope Heskey proves us all wrong of course, but if we're in need of a goal and they turn to Heskey.....???

I would have also taken Connor Wickham! Ha

You can understand the application of the old addage that 'class is permanent' with the likes of Rooney, Gerrard, Cole, Lampard, Terry etc. But over the last few years I haven't seen anything to suggest that Carrick is a better player than Parker.

The reason i keep hearing for Heskeys inclusion is because Rooney plays better with him. Thats Wayne Rooney who is supposedly our only world class striker who has to have a bumbling buffon playing with him to look good apparently.

No CL experience:

S.Warnock, M.Upson, L.King, G.Barry, A.Lennon, S.W.Phillips, E.Heskey, J.Defoe, P.Crouch - apart from maybe Heskey and Crouch, but those 2 are too similar, and only 1 of them is a proven goalscorer.

For me it sends out a message - unless you are playing for top top dollar, then forget it. Pointless anyone trying to get into the squad really.

They all have CL expierence bar King, Lennon and Barry - who have European expierencce and form in comparison to other squad memebers.
