Anyone else annoyed by the use of high-volume music-noise in nearly all public spaces now?
Cafe's, restaurants, bars, clothing stores, and even banks.
Not discreet 'background' music, but some high-volume screeching cacophony.
Hard to find a place now where you can read, talk, or just relax in relative silence. ( aside from Goodison on occasion)
I have the very same issue. And there's me thinking I needed either my ears syringing or hearing aids.Absolutely this. I hate noise, and noise is music I don't like.
Even music I like is noise if I'm in the wrong mood for it. Music should fit your mood.
Also - background music is noise. Either everyone shut up and listen to it, giving the artist proper respect, or turn it off!
I have very good hearing so it saturates with background noise meaning I can't make out what people are saying. It's downright antisocial and I swerve pubs and cafes that have background music these days.
Or maybe I don't want to listen to every person's conversation and would rather that's drowned in crap music. The theory in bars is that punters drink more if there's music.
I suppose people buy more socks in clothes shops as well.

If it's too quiet you will be able to hear chris and sue's thoughts, frankly that is a venn diagram I don't want to consider!!Or maybe I don't want to listen to every person's conversation and would rather that's drowned in crap music.
Have you ever been in a bigger clothes shop with nothing playing, not even ambient music or something, with people inside? It's horrid ffs
Exactly, ambient sound/music that just nullifies the nearby other plebs conversations is perfect and necessary. If it's too quiet you will be able to hear chris and sue's thoughts, frankly that is a venn diagram I don't want to consider!!
I've looked into it ... apparently a lot of people think it's hearing loss, when it's not. It's saturation. I can hear birdsong outside just fine, and the tiniest details in my hifi.I have the very same issue. And there's me thinking I needed either my ears syringing or hearing aids.
Oh that would explain why it's blasting out in all the bus stations in the West MidsI heard it was an attempt to curb rough sleeping in public places. They also use loud classical music in places they don’t want yoof congregating.
Forgot all about until you mention it. Seems bizarre looking backBack in the 80's you had to pay 50p on the dukebox for 3 songs in the pub. And also you could buy a packet of blends with 16 in the pack and a ten pence piece cellotaped to the box lol
