The Story of Season 21-22

The dawn breaks on a beautiful sunny Goodison as the sirens boom out before Z-cars kicks in. The rush of adrenaline as the crowd roar, the announcer asking for a big round if applause for Englands hero, then asks us to meet our new manager (rather different receptions no doubt). The game starts quickly with GBamin wanting to prove he is a player anf James and Allan buzzing off their first taste of the Goodison Roar. Ten minutes in and mr shouty who sits behind me will start compliaing very loudly (regardless of the score or performance). Then my dad will ask me who we are playing (the first of many, many times). then he will get bored and start asking me if i know everton players from the early 50’s. I will pretend i saw them, then mr shouty will get the arse and storm out shouting loud abuse at the team, the manager and anybody who looks at him. Then my dad will get bored and start asking how long till full time, (this will start in the first half by the way). Then the slow walk back to his house, and just as i leave him having made him a brew and checked the telly is on he will say “that was a pile of [Poor language removed] wasnt it” Then i will drive home listening to the divs on the call-in slagging each orher off. And you know, it will be just like Covid never happened :)

We don’t win either derby and we don’t win a cup. We finish around 8th-12th the season looks good in periods and bad in other periods, we lose a cup game we all think we should win. Rafael gets sacked and the flavour of the month gets the gig. We start again.

Can't make a prediction without seeing what Benitez brings in. If I had to guess, more midtable followed by substantial improvement after the deadwood clearout next summer.
