The summer 14 other clubs transfers thread

i'd be utterly miffed and disapointed if i was a fan of how they've ended up with just herrera and shaw at the start of the season after all the names they've been linked with. their 3 centre back options are smalling, jones and evans.

i know they don't have europe to offer, but i didn't think they'd be this bad in the transfer window - 4th is the best they can hope for at the moment.

Indeed, and I don't think European football is that big a draw as long as you throw enough money at a player. City signed David Silva, Yaya Toure, Balotelli without being in Europe IIRC.

Manchester United have signed Marcos rojo from sporting and given them nani on loan

I cant believe that deal. We'll give you £20m for an average LB pretending to be a CB and we'll give you a player back that you charged us £20m for free for a year...

oh and we'll also pay his full £92k a week wages!

United are utter mugs lol

Desperation that is.

Like your optimism there. Is rojo really nothing special?

it's a bit like us with yakubu, i'd rather keep him and hope he comes good again than sell for £5.5m a year after spending £27.5.

yeah he hasn't been a success, but he can still be a valuable squad player, what are they going to do with such a small fee? he hasn't turned into a terrible player overnight, think they're rushing into accepting that he's flop.

players like nani, kagawa and young have failed to deliver for a lot longer and were still at the club until today.

Agree that Fellaini is a good player in the right team but not sure that team is a LVG United plus the fans will always associate him with the Moyes season which will put huge pressure on him. If they sold him, or loaned him out, it would get his wages off the books and allow the player and United to start afresh.

If it is the ankle ligament damage he'll be out for a while and they already have Carrick out until Oct/Nov. Of their remaining midfielders, only Fletcher (himself recovering from a bad illness) plays defensive midfielder and Phil Jones, who sometimes plays there, is needed in their injury hit backline.

the fans have treated him crap tbh, but their squad is full of terrible players who they could do with getting off the wage books ha

Manchester United's hopes of offloading Marouane Fellaini to Napoli have been dealt a serious blow after the Belgian was pictured on crutches following a reported training ground injury.

Poor Fellaini, was hoping he could start afresh at Napoli as doubt the Utd fans will ever accept him.
He's been saying "I can't catch a break!" for the past year, and now he has finally got one.

Article on United's transfer window so far

Apparently a deal collapsed due to 2m difference between the two clubs - that sounds more like us than a wealthy team like Utd.

Can't believe they continue to balls up the transfer window. Moyes may not have been completely to blame.

They can still rescue this, but not at this rate. How long does Woodward have left there?

Good for us though.

Maybe they can be convinced to come in for Osman for £45m on deadline day. He's England capped and all...

If they do ever kick out Woodward I'd love us to sign him - he is fantastic for commercial deals. But he seems to have no clue when it comes to negotiating transfers, as you say good for us though.

Really surprised that they have botched this window up, especially not lining up more defenders/midfielders. Having signed a big name manager like LVG, this summer was the time to convince players that it was only going this year out of the Champions league. They are also under far more sponsor/fan pressure to get into the top four than Everton/Spurs/L'pool.

They might yet sign a few players but as they will almost certainly be unused to the league (apart from Osman!) it would have been much better for them to have a full preseason to settle.
