The summer 2013 Everton transfer rumourZ thread

Cant understand how very few rate McCarthy, he may end up being overpriced which will probably rule him out for us but he's a very good player who has been improving every season, similar to Gibson but I think in time will prove to be a far better player than Gibson

I rate him :) I think he'll turn out better than Gibson, and with Gibbo's injury problems and McCarthy being just 22 I think he'd be a good buy. He can play all through the midfield and he's an excellent passer and keeper of the ball with a good workrate too.

Chuck £15m at Twente to get both Chadli and Fer?

This would be very exciting to watch! Mirallas and Moses either side of an on form Jelavic would be deadly.

I also think that with Mirallas and Moses either side, Jelavic would find his form again as he would be more likely to get direct, drilled balls across the box as apposed to the service he got last year and he wouldn't have to go out wide with a player either side of him.

I agree. I think the best thing for Jelavic (and Anichibe too, although I doubt he'll ever be prolific) would be through balls or balls to feet to run or turn into, rather than balls crossed in from wide. With Mirallas and someone like Moses either side, it would allow them to cut inside and shoot or thread balls into the box for the striker, and three genuine attacking threats would stretch defences a lot more than our usual one up top.

I'd love to know how much we have to spend this summer, as ideally I'd see us sign McCarthy and someone like Moses to freshen up our play and our attacking options. If we could only afford one, maybe we can buy McCarthy and RM can charm Mourinho into allowing one of those loans with an agreed purchase price for Moses.

I think that Martinez will try to sign McCarthy above all others.
I think he is already an excellent player who will improve further over the next three or four seasons. In time he will become an all round midfielder , I believe he will be one of the top players in the premiership.
The only thing that may prevent this happening is finance.
McManaman still has a lot to prove over a full season. In fact a year in the championship playing every week may be the very best thing for him.

Agreed - he's only really begun showing what he's capable of in the last few months, and although he looked exciting and direct in the games I saw on TV, he also showed that his decision-making isn't great and quite often he gave the ball away after doing good work to get into dangerous positions.

It was reported that his injury would keep him out for three months, which means he might not get on the pitch much before the August transfer deadline, so unless a club wants to gamble on him then it might be that he stays at Wigan until January at least and gets the chance to regain fitness and show whether he can build and improve on his late season form.

In fact a few weeks ago, when RM was still Wigan manager and the RS were supposed to be sniffing round McManaman, RM said he still had a lot of learning to do and he'd be better off staying there for regular football in the Championship:

That dude also links us to Georginio Wijnaldum.

Dutch?

Big question marks for me regaring Wijnaldum. The potential and talent is clearly there, he just doesn't show enough of it. Sometimes when I see him play he really looks something special, followed by 4-5 matches below par. First let him prove his value on a consistent base before splashing the millions on him. There are better options out there.

Would you say Leroy Fer is a better player than Wijnaldum in your opinion?

"Everton FC are reportedly interested in signing highly-rated Manchester City youngster Abdisalam Ibrahim.

Although he is currently on-loan at Norwegian outfit Stromsgodset, Ibrahim has been likened to Citizens powerhouse Yaya Toure.

In other news, Everton could revive their interest in Real Madrid youngster Denis Cheryshev after he expressed doubts over his long-term future at the Bernabeu.

Meanwhile, Roberto Martinez insists Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini is not looking to leave the club."

There's so many players in the dutch league at the moment that I'd love at Everton:
Siem De Jong
Adem Maher
Eriksen but we couldn't afford him
Fer
Wijnaldum
Van Ginkel
Bony
Mertens
Chadli
The other Twente winger, the partizan one
Strootman
Djuricic but I think he's agreed to join Benfica
Martins-Indi
De Vrij
Vilhena

Which one lads..(assuming baines jags felli stays)

1. Sign one high profile forward (expensive like, player that excites fanbase) + 1 loan
2. Sign 3-4 more or less average Joes

3. 4 under-valued young marvels that will become uber-boss with a bit of nurturing ;)
