The summer 2013 Everton transfer rumourZ thread

Nigel Martyn cost a pittance. We got good service from him and when he retired, we lost next to nothing.

Man United are Not Everton. They can afford to write off big money on 29/30 year olds, we can't quite simply.

If we carry on with your theory and keep signing these 30 year old players for the here and now to go with all the other late 20 somethings in the squad, where is our transfer kitty going to come from in years to come? Bill finally finding investment?

It won't be from selling your Kone's and Alcaraz' or Distin's because they'll be totally worthless.

Some of our fans are so short sighted its unbelievable.

better than signing young and inexperienced players for 2-3 mil and getting relegated like wigan.

You are but if you don't listen to what the club is telling you then you can't complain later.

Debt isn,t going down. Suntan Bob is going to use incoming money from the big outs and go after debt reduction.

You will see plenty of players come in but you will be told that they are prospects for the future just not BIG TKT 15m players.

This the NU everton. I can handle it can you?

Forgive me if I am wrong, but we have made the total sum of 1 x 15m player that I can recall, not like they are something we get involved in every season. Therefore, don't really see the drama if we invest in younger and hungry players, just as we did when we signed Jagieka, Baines, Cahill, Arteta and et al.

And I can handle anything mate, it's only football and won't make that great a difference to my personal well being.

Considering Everton's low budget, £5,000,000 for a 30 year old who we can't resell is hugely disappointing. Martinez maybe already showing that he hasn't got the financial clout we need.

Hopefully I'm wrong, because I do think he's a good tactical manager who just needs to adjust his defensive tactics a little..
But there's a thing no one here (in the last 3-4 pages) is considering - we may finish higher up, thus making up for those 5m or whatever. If he comes here, scores 10-15 goals and we get to be in top 4 - I don't really care.

Keep that in mind, everyone. Stop thinking that we're gonna be getting the 7th place trophy again, we may get the 4th place one this time, no one knows! (It may, of course, back fire, but for one we could be positive about things, right?)

Also "give him time" should be something we also need to consider. He's been here officially for less than a day!

Let's not be writing Kone off before he's even signed or kicked a ball. Same goes for Martinez, his tactics and signings can be judged in due course, for now let's get behind the manager and the team.

I think you are looking at that with a completely tunnel vision.

A mixture of young and old works a treat. Man U's side still accommodated Scholes and Giggs last year, Ferdinand is no spring chicken, neither is Evra.

5m is not a lot of money if he lasts 2-3 years.

What's wrong with having a few older heads in, whilst the likes of Barkley, Stones, Duffy, Garbutt and Lundstram are coming through to provide some youth to the squad?

If Baines is sold well that changes everything and if Big hair goes as well then a lot of pressure id going to be on the club before a ball is kicked.
