Didnt he have some grief with Thiago Silva or someone similar calling them a ladyboy etc on twitter. Got fined etc by the french FA and warned by Marseille towatch himself? Im sure he got sent off too (although that in itself in a whole season is pretty good for that pleb)
 
I'm torn, no doubt Barton has been an utter stupid prick in the past. But, in the past few years his character has seemed to change.

Could be good backup, just not sure if its worth the risk though.

the incident he was jailed for was clearly assault and only word of mouth evidence to say what was provocation so I am just offering a devil's advocate opinion. Barton has admitted his background made it hard to accept some of the attitudes of players who thought they were something special for kicking a ball about. The cigar incident and Dabo incident were obvious over reactions but almost certainly provoked and the lad with the cigar went onto seriously assault his girlfriend. Barton seems to me to have learnt that he can't deal with conflict in this way and I don't think there has been doubt about his ability. Distin was his captain when he was at his worse so am sure his input will be sought. The papers have painted him one way which always makes we wonder. Understand if people think he is not worth it, but my heart tells me I would love him here much more than some model professional with no love for the club with half an eye on their next move

pretty sure if you got to hear your average footballer uncensored then you would not want them at your club. Twitter is a communal toilet, he obviously feels there is so much he has to answer to that he needs it but not heard anything quoted that makes me think he would be a liability to be honest

What about all the competitions he runs for his fans on twitter? Where he puts on flights and a hotel and gives them two tickest to the OM game?

On a seperate note...reports today that Arsenal have come in for Fellaini for £22M.

Few people on twitter reckon his clause actually runs out tomorrow - 1st August - and not the middle as was previously quoted.
 
Twitter is full of bells anyway. So what if Barton does what the majority of the world's population also does. Not arsed.

Pretty sure he's used it in the past yo have a go at his club and manager. That's unnacceptable to be honest and where the problems would start. If he didn't do that i wouldn't have any issue with us signing him

if he is disruptive I agree he has to go but he isn't stupid and knows if he can't behave from that point of view at Goodison then no-one will trust him again so I think worth believing he won't

If he'd agree to a water tight contract that would allow us to get rid if he did something wrong then great. Talent wise and on a free transfer it could be great. I fear he'll never change though and the minute he's not happy about something he'd lose the plot in one way or another

to be honest in recent times apart from his current loan he has been at clubs inviting trouble who are nothing like the way this club is run. its going to be a matter of trust and maybe I feel this way because he is a blue but maybe a clear idea that this is his last chance will be enough. he will get wound up by plenty though and think we have to stand up for him if that happens as part of the deal
