I'm not sure he is though. Surrounded by better plays makes him look alright. He'd be surrounded by worse players with us.

Its a big question within this thread- Baines for £26m and we get the quality players in to fill the squad and replace him.
I've always been against selling our best players- I've always stated that we should build on them not lose them but with Baines Im a bit more open at replenishing the squad with the funds from his potential sale.
I think it also depends on how good Garbutt is and if he is seen as the long term successor. My understanding is hes a decent prospect and doing well but who knows...
I honestly think that we are 4 players away from being up in the top 4. If we started the season with Donovan, Pienaar a quality creative midfielder and a right back while keeping hold of what we have I think we'll be a force.
If selling Baines means we can get all 5 in (replacment for Baines too) then i have to say we go for it.

Maybe, he did well at Feyenoord but that was a while ago. I mean better than any other strikers we have (ie none)

It doesnt have to be a disaster. Every player has a price but we need to get a stupid amount to even think about it. Left backs tend to come fairly cheap so we could improve elsewhere too for silly money. If Moyes was to be given it all of course which he wont.
Our situation is awkward I reckon because realistically we need to ship players on before they get to an age where their value depreciates and Baines is on the cusp of that age now.

Doubt we would get or are intrested in either. Really we look at players that are value or are players who have lost theeir way, or players with a bit of coaching can be top players.
We couldnt afford eithers wages or signing on fee. Although i like Kalou i think Kalou likes Kalou to much not to go to Arsenal etc or get away from London. There isnt a parralel universe were Davey would have Boswinga in his team.

I don't think there is a Baines deal mate.
Having said that though, we got Gibson so cheap I reckon there is something else to it. First option on Barkley or something like that.
