you cant really say wallace , baxter Hahnemann were first team players because they wasn't . moyes has wanted to shift the dead wood from his squad so we will see what happens

I said first team squad. They still have to be paid and they are there for back up.

Kind of feels like the end of an era with Arteta going last year, and Cahill possibly this year. Its a shame we just couldn't manage to win something with them in the squad.

Hero's come and go, Legends remain forever

It feels to me like the squad that was lauded as the one that was the best since the 80s and capable of challenging just two seasons ago is now being auctioned off. It's more like a realsiation by Moyes that that project was never fulfilled and its time now to hunker down to just getting through each season in a respectable place.

lol yeah because that is in moyes chemistry is to just settle for 2nd best .

As Duncan Disorderly alluded to, it'll hurt not to see Tim lift a trophy here. I know it would have made his career and it'd have meant as much to him as it would to anyone, probably more. It'll never happen for a nicer fella. Shame.

Before we all start with our obituarties, can I just add that Tim Cahill is still an Everton player and the rumours stem from twitter ?

Thats just it, the rumours dont stem from Twitter. Two people who have been known to be reliable (MM on betfair, SHORTY on NSNO (appears to be either a member of staff or a player)) have said NYRBs and CAhill is happening. Twitter hve got onto it after this.

When you look at it, time was probably up on this squad. He kept it together by hook or by crook for 2 years, but looking back that didn't work. We've turned down better money for players that have gone than we eventually received, when we should have sold at peak and reinvested in younger players. Whether it was worry that he wouldn't get the money to spend, or just sheer belief that this was THE squad, with hindsight, it was the wrong approach.

We're at the point now where there are a few players coming to the end of their time, but we've got a lot of exciting youngsters coming through. I think we'll be a team in transition for the next 2 years. Just got to wonder if Moyes will be there to see it through
