Alright, the Commanding Officer of my submarine (USS Florida) was onboard the DSV that went down to the Titanic with Dr. Robert Ballard. He told us many long stories about the expedition.

So Ghost, considering I know and keep in touch with one of the men who has actually seen the sunken Titanic with his own eyes, please reconsider you view.

And the location of the Titanic's final resting place is a closely guarded secret so as to prevent the wreck being looted, so the Olympia theory is a bit far-fetched.

but seriously....looters ? imo if you can get yourself down there i reckon you deserve the ships bell on your mantlepiece, there arent many submersibles that can get down there are there ? or is it only in 20 feet of water ?
if anyone ever goes to bali you can go to the USS LIBERTY, it lies in very shallow water and you can just drift over the entire length of the ship, which was scuttled to prevent capture. it was as rough as alex curran the day we were near it so we didnt go to see it, also cos it was monsoon season a lot of shoite washes down into the sea so visibility is poor, apparently well worth seeing at the right time of year. bali was probably the cheapest place i visited on my "gap year + 6 more"

Dylan it was me who said about the olympia not ghost. It's just somthing i read a while ago. Ghost just started the thread, he's not come up with his explination.

From what i read thou everythin on the titanic an olympia were swaped so it makes no different what you or they saw. It's only conspirisy bollocks thou so dont get the pitch forks on me!!

Its definately the titanic at the bottom of the ocean. The piece of wreckage that was brought up shows without doubt that its the titanic the porthole pattern is different on the titanic than the olympic. Most of the conspiracy theory comes from the fact that they couldn't afford the insurance for both the olympic and the titanic because of the olympics crash 12 months before, and also the ship at the botom of the ocean has one of the olympics propellors, this is because the titanic sheared one of its propellors on its sea trials and as the olympic was out of service they swapped the propellor as they were exactly the same size whilst they were both in dock in belfast. The reason the titanic sank is simple captain Smith under orders from White Star was to test how fast he titanic could get to New York it was alledgedly the fastest cruise liner in the world and white star wanted to prove it. so they pushed it to its limits and regardless of radio communications warning the personnel of the titanic of freak weather conditions i.e icebergs that far south in April Captain Smith pushed on in his "indestructable ship" Unfortunately for him the grade of steel the Titanics hull was built from was quite poor and its strength was adversley affect by the freezing temperatures. But to be fair I'm not sure whether any steel would have taken the impact anyway. It was simply the position and the size of the hole put in it that sank the Titanic this allowed the water to fill too many of the sealed compartments although a bulkhead door bursting didn't help it didn't cause the ship to sink it just sped up its decline.

For me the reason the Titanic sank was down to the arrogance of the White Star Line and unfortunately because he was a scouser the Arrogance of its Captain.
