I just think having Siggy/Walcott for a combined 65m, let alone their wages, who are both nearly 30 isn't a bold plan for the future.

He is extremely intelligent. Not a Messi brain, but just watch him, he hardly EVER gets flagged offside. I've said it before on here, but IMO he makes some of the most intelligent runs of any English footballer. The space he creates for other people is brilliant.

If he signs... just watch how much more space they will be for the likes of Sig and Rooney. He drags defenders out of position

Clearly, I was wrong on how Koeman wanted to use him and Kenny, but in terms of how it's worked out Martina has been providing cover in numerous positions and for all of his faults (of which there are plenty), he's been an ever-present as we've improved defensively.

Now that's not down to him and simply put he's nowhere near good enough, but ironically enough if we hadn't brought him in we'd have been in an even worse state at the back personnel wise due to the injuries.

I agree entirely on your points about Walcott, btw.

I'd say it's a no-brainer though in terms of getting someone proven in the league who can score goals - as you say, probably not as much here due to styles of play etc, and creates danger because of his pace, which is something we've all bemoaned the lackof so far this year.

Martina's been awful, mate. As most people correctly predicted. Our defence has improved because we play 9 men behind the ball (minimum) most of the time and because Gylfi has done a good job of covering for Cuco (something I personally don't think he gets enough credit for). He didn't improve the squad, he wasn't low risk. He's a shocker. At the Burnley game, right in front of me, he did something I have never seen on a football pitch, professional or otherwise. He was quite tight to Brady and he turned his back on him and ran towards our goal, leaving Brady to cross the ball unchallenged. Since then, perhaps because I'm looking for it a bit more, I've seen him do the exact same thing on two further occasions. The man has no idea how to defend and yet, somehow, he plays in defence for Everton football club every game.

Anyway, Walcott. Expensive but probably the sort of player we need if we're flogging Lennon and Niasse. ;)

I think is more the fact Iowbi plays in front of him. I'd be worried if Iwobi was keeping any of our wingers out of the team tbh.

Fwiw i like Walcott and reckon he could do a good job for us

You let your blind positivity towards youngsters cloud your judgement. Walcott is easily twice the player Looman currently. Easily.
