Confirmed Signing Thierno Barry

It’s already begun. People over analysing everything from a handful of minutes in meaningless pre season friendlies that were arranged entirely so that Man United could go out to the US and win something as a marketing ploy for the PL.

Comments around his body language, not offering much, about him needing to bulk up etc.

Unless a young player hits the ground running, we are awful with them. Only have to look at Lookman and Kean and how well they are doing after leaving us.
I know mate, I’m just trying to nip it in the bud and make people think twice before piling on. Same with aznou.

I’m more than happy with Barry as a back up to Beto, we just need to give him a chance.

Hes young and coming into the club during huge change, would be fantastic if he starts scoring for fun any game time he gets, but I’m not gonna kill the lad if he doesn’t.

Thierno Boooorry.

He will be fine.

Does make me laugh that people are going on about him being young and being a back up for now. He was a regular for Villareal who came fifth in La Liga last season and are well better than us. He will be expecting to start/be involved every week and we should be expecting him to as well.

Have you met David Moyes mate?

I agree with you btw, but we all know how Desperate Davey operates.

It's a big ask for a young player to come in and play that position for us. Kean and Chermiti both struggled with it massively - we really need this not to be the case with Barry. I think a lot will rest of on how the team starts the season. If we struggle overall, I think he's going to have a really difficult time when he's on the pitch. No player gets isolated like an Everton forward when things aren't going well.

Got a feeling, based on nothing at all, that we're gonna see more of him on the pitch with Beto than instead of him. Think he'll be put on out wide, especially if we're chasing a game so we can pump long diagonals up for him to win. He's defo got that overeager quality about him that'd have him running the channels like a madman and giving full-backs nightmares.

Not saying it is how he SHOULD be used, it's just what I foresee.

Needs to be given time to settle in. We could ruin him if we put too much on him so early. One of the reasons why we need another striker. Send Chermiti out on loan to gain experience and bring in a cheapish proven goal scorer as an option to give us depth.

Wouldn't mind Chermiti going to Southampton on loan as part of the negotiations for Dibling.

I don’t know why people draw any conclusions from friendly matches, they’re just marketing pay days nowadays

Last week I was reading how man united were transformed after battering the other two teams and we were awful and gonna be in a relegation battle because we lost to them and our players were super unfit… today I’m reading we’d have probably won if United didn’t get a soft penalty (familiar) and our players looked fit

Once Barry has played five or six competitive games we’ll know more about if he’s ready or a project

Well off the pace at the moment and looks a little lost, however, he is big and quick with a decent first touch. I think it may be around December before we see the best of him, but, he has all the tools, I think he'll do well given time.

That game last night was competitive. He hardly touched the ball with his feet. He spent most of the time wrestling while trying to control the ball neck high, which he did not shy away from.
His movement is good. Once he gets used to this kind of football, he will be OK.
