The early round League Cup fixtures were the opportunity for blooding new players. I don't think we'll give young players a spin in the third round proper of the FA Cup, much less the Prem.

We did give opportunities. Nkounkou played 3 times, Gordon played etc. We still want to win games so can't play 7 or 8 academy players. It's not like we've won anything recently so can turn our nose up at trophies.

There's plenty to work with though and that's the main thing. He's training with the senior players and only started playing at 23s level. He doesn't have to be ready at 16 and has years to improve still. I don't understand the clamour to have kids of 16, 17 etc to play in the first team. Let them develop and we'll know in time if they will make the grade.
