nah they had a white sole mate, i have a pair they are the original ones , not re-issues or re-makes.
they did have a pair with velcro straps as well but that had the same sole, non of all these coloured ones either just white with gold stripes they were to be sold in harrods only, but £30 in those days for a trainer was considered very expensive, they then ended up in places like wade smith and hurleys.

The ones in this pic are the ones I was referring to, as you can see, they have a yellow sole and were out in '79.

Was the film made in 1979? Nope. So it could be possible that the costume department made a bollox up with regards to the casting of the shoe?

Watched a recent documentary on the movie, everything they use is vintage. The costume lady spoke of how difficult it was to get hold of all the gear.

How old are you mate? No offence, but Reidy is like ancient old and he knows stuff about stuff, so if you wernt old enough to own a pair of them in 1979, im gonna have to take Reidys word for it, rather than yours or some costume lady that has dropped a clanger.

Anyway, a film based on life on The Wirral, filmed in Liverpool, you couldnt make it up. Should be a decent watch either way.

lol, yeah the costume lady... is likely to say she was a lazy arse and used modern gear that looked close enough.

no.. she is going to say everything matches and it was a pain in the arse getting it.

rumbled though except for those who believe the little old dear.

Do as you please, I may well be wrong, I just posted a pair of trainers I liked and (as usual) Reidy had to start a debate. (y)

the '79 ones werent available in this country so no 70's hools would be wearing them.
the first forest hills in this country were the 84 ones which harrods rejected as too expensive, it was only around then that people started to wear trainers as leisure shoes and there werent many styles either at first. in the 70's it was all d.m.'s and stuff, in '79 i started sec. school and not many trainers around. the ones i remember are Mitre (memphis and all black) Power (tunis and also some black ones) dunny green flash, adidas kick, and patrick.

dont believe everythin you see on tv and in films, they will deny any errors they make, you'll be saying they were wearing fila bj's next.

Adidas Originals trabs still give me the sheer joy they used to in the 80s.

always thought gazelle look dead comfy but rubbish sole. i am fancying a pair of blue munchen as have a comfy look also. i was looking at a pair of some adidas and couldnt decide what colour they were, so emails this makem and asked are they burgundy or red (stating reason), he said you couldnt wear samba at roker park cos of the colour and rom were a lifesaver for them. samba ffs, the greatest shoe ever.

i would like some of the mitre all black though but cant even find a pic of any. the munich were also good.
i could have a roomfull of trabbs tbh.
