We live in a rural area in the east of England, near to a station, and a mile from a village. Last Friday, at around 8.45 in the evening, there was a frenzied banging on our front door. There were two girls, aged about 14, sobbing, terrified and desperate to come in. It took my wife a a long time to calm them. Meanwhile, I went up the road to the main road where they reported seeing the clown, who had shone a light at them and then on him, before lunging at them. He was nowhere to be found.

The girls were fine when they came the next day, accompanied by their mother, with flowers and chocolates. What a miserable experience for two young girls. And what a callous, stupid and cowardly thing for some 'clown' to do.
