We aren't pinning our hopes on Dempsey but he was an automatic starter for us when healthy.

This a bad deal and I hope it doesn't keep him out.

On the flip side, we've got Holden and Torres waiting in the wings if the unthinkable should happen. DaMarcus Beasley is starting to recapture his old form as well.

It's not so much that they don't have cover in the midfield, but I think he was the top candidate to either 1. start up top in place of Davies or 2. play the left side with Donovan playing the second striker role.

It's a huge blow if he can't play. They have the talent to overcome, but if you keep chipping away at that talent, eventually there will be none left.

The talent is improving but it's slim to begin with. Losing Dempsey would be a crushing blow. Sounds like he'll make the WC which is all we can hope for.

Big *whew* with the news of his knee. He's being playing well lately too, lots of confidence. Did anybody see his two strikes on goal before he got hurt? Very impressive stuff. Should of scored on the 2nd one though.

Yeah, definitely a big relief on that front. I'd like to see Dempsey used as a second striker if Holden's ready to play on the right.

Besides Jozy (who isn't getting much playing time thanks to their goofball manager) there isn't anybody else that we have with experience to play at the position.

Luckily I think that Dempsey is a much better striker than RW. In the midfield he's a defensive nightmare, and sometimes he will often get caught overdribbing in the middle of the pitch.

I think Holden on the right is our best option.

There's far less drop off (if any, when you consider defensive duties) from Dempsey to Holden at right mid than Dempsey to whoever else would play striker -- Ching, Casey, Cunningham, Johnson, Findlay.
Personally, I'd like to see Findlay get a strong look. His pace would help on the counter.

Anything to get Dempsey off the right is the best option. To say he looks disinterested there is an understatement.
