Dont think i was around when all this has happened as im totally unaware and dont have a clue of the times being mentioned lol.

Well it happened tonight actually with the complaining about diving, but generally we accept it when it goes for us.

Monty says he didn't, I have to respect it, even if I found it hard to believe.

i can see your point of view - so far. (only so far)

Fair enough. I don't want to disrupt.

But I have just said what I believe. If you all want to take offence then that's up to you, but no offence to any individual is intended.

i'll pass on this one for the time being

I just don't think it is all sweetness and light. For example, when the club is in the [Poor language removed], its not a very pleasant place to be. But now because the club is doing well, we have little to complain about. But I just don't think this place is a place where we can share opinions and be safe that opinions are going to be accepted.

i'll say it as i see it, and if needed defend my opinion - i try hard to not let it get personal, **resorting to abuse is a sure fire way to lose an arguement - this isnt aimed at anyone in particular, its a lesson i learned a while back.

I am guilty of that too, and I am trying to not be so "I'm right and your wrong" about everything.

no one gets everything right every time, the entirity of the board also cant agree on every subject. my political views especially on crime and punishment are very very choice indeed. i dont mind, i dont need anyone or everyone to agree with me. to sum it up, i dont look for confirmation or validation - i please me first.

Maybe I'm just a drama queen. But the whole Pienaar is a diver thing and he is wrong for doing so really has annoyed me. We think we are perfect. We weren't perfect when Fergie was knocking players out for fun. But nobody complained so much, he was celebrated as being the thug we needed up front.

freudian slip? or do your really like high heels? ferguson is a special case, his contempt for the FA, its officials and the rules they dish out when it suits their agenda. as everton supporters we have suffered through their treatment aplenty and to have someone on the field mirroring the feeling in the stands endeared him massively to all the support. lets not forget, he served time for sticking the head on another player - cantona visited a few schools after the unprovoked assault on a member of the public for his punishment. bowyer and dyer. hartson kicking berkovich in the face. shearer and the elbows. kevin [Poor language removed] davies. roy keane.
Even last summer when the argies got dumped out by the germans there was violence on the pitch - and what came of it?

i read a review not long ago about 'that' game with leeds at goodison where we lost a player for a punch, and the referee stopped the game for 10 minutes to let the players calm down. that was the revie side of the 60's i think.

Anyway, let me try and turn this into a positive. I do like the fact that people do care, and we do have a mix of many nations here. I do enjoy the banter at times. I also like the commentary situation during matches. Who announces the goal first is like a race against time.

guilty as charged.

I also like it when someone who is clearly bladdered turns up online and tries to make a post.

Oh and I liked the whole jon_efc thing, it was very humane and I like to think we helped. Even though a fair few here were slagging his missus off something rotten. It still came out in the wash.

So in summary, its not bad here, just a little hypocritical from time to time.

just try not to take things to heart, i admit though, sometimes you have to get in the trenches and fight your own corner.

it'd be boring if we all agreed all the time, a different perspective can and often is healthy.

enjoy it, consider it a game, dont get caught out.

so long as you dont make any outlandish statements, then your fairly safe.

are you really bothered if people agree or not? just have the confidence in yourself to remain true to your gut-feeling/observations/point-of-view.

Anyone would think we had a members area for the special folk to hang out :P

Seriously though, I'm not aware of a clique, certainly not in the sense that opinions are organised to quash those with opposing views. You're similar to me Nick in that we both believe we're right in what we say, I guess they'd be funny opinions if we believed them to be wrong yet still said them. Sometimes we'll agree, other times we won't. Sometimes things get heated and obscenities exchanged but it's just a forum, nothing to get too concerned about. Remember it's just your opinions that are being challenged, not you as an individual :)

True.

But today for example, I questioned Monty's claim that he complained about Limpar diving against Wimbledon for a penalty that kept us in the league. It was more of "your joking, how could you want to complain about us staying in the league", but he took it as an insult and said I called him a liar.

Its stuff like that. Dylan taking offence because I said that local local people are going to have a different opinion than remote fans.

What can I do?

temper your comments with a touch of explanation - that way the wrong end of the stick cant be got at.

its all about the re-read. do your best to preempt any possible misunderstandings.

Ok,

See what I can do.

Suits is right.
I'll just give you some more friendly advice, feel free to ignore if you so wish.
The thing earlier with Limpar and the guy saying you called him a liar : neither of you did anything wrong, it was simply a misunderstanding. They happen all the time on messageboards unfortunatly.
The best thing to of done was to explain to him you were joking and let him decide whether he stays pissed off or accepts you were joking and it all is forgot about.
But most importantly, forget about all this clique business, stop thinking that everytime someone disagrees with you or gets pissed off with soemthing you say its because its you who said. The more you moan about it on here the more people will be inclined to get at you.
If people disagree with you so be it. Fine, you can have a discussion and it might turn into an argument, accusations get thrown around and people get pissed off. But thats just what happens on messageboards (as in real life).
You just gotta roll with it, dont hold a grudge or keep going back to that argument, forget it and move on.

I hope none of that sounds patronising, its not meant to be. Obviously i dont know you at all but you seem like a decent guy since ive been on here and a good poster and i wouldnt want you to leave this place.
Maybe i'm just an old git who has spent way too much time on messageboards i'm almost an expert and their inner workings lol.

Fair enough, but the Limpar thing, I wasn't joking. I just found it hard to believe.

Just use my technique. "Never post on public forums." I don't. And if you read anything to the contrary it is just your imagination.

There are people in here though that take things personally and get far too wound up. Some people have a strange compulsion to over state their point as they do not like to be told that they are wrong. Some people will complain at people and say"this is just an opinion" then lambaste someone else's opinion (which does sometimes look like a one way bombardment as established friends will jump on their bandwagon). This is why there are some very frequent posters and new posters do tend to stomp out fairly early in the running. These things happen, this is only a forum, it is not real life. Ghost I remember you personally being a very loud voice in telling me I was talking Bullshit when I informed this site of the Fernandes thing and the Yak transfer. Look, I still talk to you.

What I am trying to say to everyone is do not take the typings of someone you have never met too personal. It does not matter. It is the people in your real life that are the ones to take to heart. I have met some of the people in here and taken them to heart. They were good people and will be life long friends maybe. Some people that live too far away to meet are accepted as friends. everyone is different.

Monty is a stickler from the old school with Old school values and rules. May he never change.

Chico likes to see the lighter side and not take things in here too seriously. He loves the club, what else is needed?

Suits is like a dog with a bone when he has a point to make, constantly. you get used to this and respect him for it as you know he is firing from the hip.

Danny is young, grounded and dedicated to this place. I thank him for that.

Dylan is the overseas father figure that slaps danny into touch.

CT is french.

Chris A2B kerb crawls

Cal is ACE. FACT (I owe him one)

Latch is a earth walking Demi God

I speak [Poor language removed] and tell crap jokes.

to name just a few.

Basically I am saying this place is a quality place populated by strange, normal and weird people. It is ran professionally with humour, fact and vision.

Nice one lads.

Yeah, but I never insulted you mate. Plus I seem to recall apologising. Infact, it wasn't you per-say, it was a newbie who I thought was a RS, and it all got blown out of proportion, but its no issue anymore.

I'm fairly new here too. And found this place after becoming disppodant with the abuse aimed at anybody non scouse by a **** head who runs an Everton site.

I dont want to sound like an arse licker, but this close knit community is fantastic, the level of debate and respect makes it comfortable for new comers.
