Thought for the day

You could put forward the same 'argument' towards any earner.

What do you want/expect the players to do?

The players are assets, it would be suicidal to "release them". Not only would they need to compensate them, they would also miss out on any potential transfer fee.

The priority has to be keeping the club afloat, otherwise no one will be left with a job.

And when football implodes?
And it will.

You never answered the question.

What do you want/expect the players to do?

Where do you work? - If they sacked the cleaner or someone below you, would you go and give him/her your wages?

Because 85 staff have been given the axe?
Because people in the world are starving?
Because fans pay through the nose to watch them whilst earning modest wages?

It's over the top earnings, and I can't think of one point to justify it despite your attempts.

It is not footballers fault that this is the case.

If fans want to pay a lot of money to watch football games and subscribe to sky to help fund wages then that is their fault why wages are high - not footballers.

They DON'T want to pay lots of money.
That is why many grounds are struggling to fill.

So why did Pompey offer Utaka £80k a week when we wanted him, when ther ground doesn't hold more than 23k

Moyes wanted him but the difference is we wern't stupid enough to offer him that wage and that's why we aren't in the high court every week and Pompey are

I want the players to accept a wage cap.
All it takes is for clubs to agree not to pay high wages any more and players can't do a damn thing about it.

I'm self employed, and my company isn't multi million pounds in debt in order to pay me extortionate sums. The cleaner earns a similar wage.

Idealistic. It would have to be world wide and every financial aspect of World Football dramatically revamped.

Last time I checked, it's not working well in America. Isn't their league at risk of not going ahead this season?

That's why we have a world wide governing body, so the option is certainly there should those governing bodies wish to make the ruling.

In America, it's difficult to tell a guy on £1000 per week ( I really don't know what they earn) that they don't deserve the £100,000 per week of the Spanish player. I do believe that footballers and their greedy agents need to be put in their place sooner rather than later though, and not just footballers, but sports people in general.

The average football club is millions in debt. Regularly, smaller clubs are going into administration. We've just seen a top flight club find the same fate.

I use Virgin tv.
To include just the Sky Sports channels ( is it 3 channels? )would cost more than the extra large tv package ( hundreds of channels) I have, and will be cutting back soon.

Part of the problem is that modern society is very shallow, and egos get in the way of common sense. I've never used a credit card in my life. Others will get into thousands of debt just to wear a piece of crap that has someones name on it. They should wipe out the majority of humanity and start again. I mean that sincerely too.

virgin do a 3 for £30 deal, which includes xl tv, then if you are on xl you get skysports for £16 instead of £26.

just mentioning it as I was getting ripped for a lot more than that until I did the toys from pram manoeuvre on the phone.

plus there are 'other ways' for £85.

A little off topic, but my package of 20mb broadband, extra large tv, and free phonecalls 7 days per week 24hrs per day costs me £51 per month.

I'm on xltv, 10mb b/band/ phone line with i believe 'free' evening and weekend calls for £30.
I get free landlines off my mobile, whereas virgin used to hit me for a connection fee.
skysports is I think £16 or £18, I know it's a tenner less cos I have xltv.

compared to the ciggies though mate ?
