Threat of villa

Remember when @Damo_1878 said Villa where destined for implosion and “at least we’re not villa”.

Fantastic.
Imagine being fairly well run and looking like they have some semblance of a plan to carry on with that. Would avoid the relegation before all that though.

I have no ill will against Villa in particular. They are just showing us up for the the poorly run organisation that we are.

Get a dodgy stick & you get every game for £60 a year, no traffic, no inclement weather, no low lives shouting obscenities, feet up, glass of vino, perfection !!
Thing is transfer fees need to be paid some way.
Tv money and match going fans have pay for the 25million bang average premier footballers.
Dodgy boxes are going to resolve that.

Still early days of course but he's been great in every game he's played so far. Yes there will be ups and downs but fair play to him for coming in and hitting the ground running.

Villa needed a hard reset before coming up again.
Relegation, the they got rid of their owners, went through the Gerard management and came out the other side. Consistent theme under this ownership is has been investment in the team, the background training ground, the youth side and the stadium. Pushing forward. Villa fans are moaning about ticket prices ect but you can’t have it both ways.

Surely the accountant for sustainability are reset at Evertonbut there’s some distance in terms of years between villa and Everton now.

Luck also plays its part. As do Fulham...If we had have beaten them in the Play-off final we would have carried on with Tony Xia in charge and Steve Bruce as a manager. That defeat meant that the HRMC missed payment became news and Xia had to sell up. Right price at the right time as Sawiris and Eadens were looking to buy a club. They then sacked Bruce and brought in Dean Smith which set us in the right direction. Yes, there have been missteps such as appointing Gerrard but thanks once again to Fulham a defeat to them saw Gerrard sacked and in the right place at the right time, Emery fancied the challenge (he'd turned down Newcastle before Howe got the job). It didn't take long before Christian Purslow was replaced for his Gerrard vanity project and underwhelming return on trying to increase our turnover.

The owners have been clear since they came in that their vision was to take us back to the very top again, and to stay there. Obviously, all owners say it but they are backing it with positive action (CL tickets aside...). We are well run from top to bottom and its been a great time to be a Villa fan given where we were 5 years ago. That said, as I mentioned, luck has also played its part, but its been mainly excellent decisions off the field, and getting in Unai Emery and given him complete fiefdom over Villa. He has been remarkable and we are lucky to have him.
