Yeah, I get right put off by that. I've got old mates on facefook who annoy me with automated messages like "so_and_so wants you to like their new page/picture/muffstyle".
Out of principle I ignore them, some I even deleted if the requests became too much. I'm probably being too idealistic & principled about what is ultimately a pretty harmless little click. How does GOT benefit from being able to claim 50,000 likes instead of 8,000 likes? Does it mean better ad deals? Obviously a very fine cause then, but I'd think that unique visitors stats are probably more useful to an advertiser than the amount of facebook likes (as some people on facefook clearly like everything and their dog...how useful is that to anyone?).
