Tim Howard vs Brazil

After receiving treatment for several minutes, the Everton keeper told coach Bob Bradley he would fight through the pain. Howard is scheduled to receive X-rays Monday amid fears he may also have broken his finger.

"It is really sore. We will see what the doctors say and see if I can play next week," Howard told Yahoo! Sports. "With all the pain and visually what it looks like, we are not sure. It was pretty blue and swollen up like a balloon. They had to pull it back into place and it took a while. I was getting pretty frustrated because it was so painful.”

From Yahoo! Sports.

The bloody idiot should have came off the pitch. Am sure he would have done if he didn't get paid by Everton when hes injured.

I hope you're kidding.

I want players who fight through injuries to play - even on international assignment. We're better off in the long run having tough guys.

I have played through injuries. Sometimes it isn't the smartest thing to do, but it is 'in' the player. If you blame anybody, it should be the surprisingly good US coach, Bradley (I like this guy now, he is doing great) who gets the blame

So play through an injury in a FRIENDLY?

Yeah, that makes sense doesn't it. He could of and probably did make the injury worse by staying on. You don't risk the fitness of players in friendlies. If he would have come off, put ice on it immediately it would have been better for Everton. No doubt about that.

Yes, I prefer a player with that mentality during a game.

Do you want your keeper to be deflecting Brazil shots left and right in front of 50,000 people and then right in the middle of it all say to himself, "you know, i should probably leave this game and get some ice on this thing and maybe 50 cc of cortizone. after all it's only 144 hours until kickoff of the Man U game a few thousand miles away"

I want the guy who gets up and says "Ronaldinho, I'm sick of stopping all your easy shots - I'll make it interesting by playing 1-handed"

Dylan is probably right that the responsibility lies in the coach to force Tim off the field.

Once I saw him flexing the hand several times after the injury, I really didn't have a problem with him staying in as I didn't think it was going to get any worse than it was.

I'm pretty sure he didn't touch the ball the rest of the game

Does anyone know whether he's in with a chance to play against Utd tomorrow? I've not seen the usual Ruled out for X amount of weeks post...does that mean he's alright?
