2024/25 Tim Iroegbunam

It's like cricket mate

You're twice the player when you don't play
I mean, I seem to remember (and I am plodding towards 50 these days, so memory might be hazy...) him getting multiple MOTM awards in here in consecutive games at the start of the season? He was head and shoulders our best player before injury... The general consensus was that not only had we got the better of the Dobbin swap deal, but most were saying he was better than Onana at that time and we'd had Villa's pants down.

We'll see I guess when he's back and match fit, but I think our Midfield has missed him (Especially if it means Doucoure plays instead).

Yeah he looked good. Seemed to move better than Onana and looked quite dynamic. I think he was our best player over the first 4 or 5 games

Think he'd be a great number 10/ second striker instead of Doucoure. Got the front footed energy but with more quality on the ball

I thought he looked like he had something about him, much better than who we sent the other way in Dobbin. The more midfielders we have, I am hoping that Doucouré becomes further away from starting

My take on Tim, since he's been out we are starting to overstate how good he was.

He started the season really well, but before going out injured he'd started to show signs of what he is, a talented but young and inexperienced player, not helped by Dyche btw who left him on in the Bournemouth game when he needed to be subbed after 60 as he was dead on his feet, last third of that game he was being exposed badly - mentally switched off due to fatigue and wasn't tracking back or anything. Signs of inexperienced essentially.

Be good to get him back but his playing time and development needs to be managed better - I trust Moyes way more than Dyche to do that too.

Ultimately he's likely more suited to a box to box type role if he can build up his stamina and awareness of when to go and when to stay etc.

Lot there though to work with.

He looked good with ball in feet and passing forwards. His defensive positional play came under question before he was injured. Good to have him back but needs time.
Any time I saw him play I thought he did well. Now that we have a manager that will not set up his team to defend for most of the game, when he comes back we might take the pressure off Ndiaye being the creative player in the team.

Played alongside Doucore for the first few games where we were scoring but conceding more, Doucoure was dropped for a couple then but Iroegbunam was on the bench by the time the Leicester draw and the first win against Palace. All pretty academic given there's been a change in manager since.

I like him and thought he looked a good deal but I'd prefer him playing a bit-part alongside better players coming in rather than pinning our hopes on him being the best midfield option if we end up going with what we've got.

I struggle to remember when we had two very well rounded athletically gifted central midfielders (I guess you could argue Onana but he was still cooking a bit) in the lineup. It will be interesting to see if these two can elevate the side next year when they will be the ones featuring. They can both play the game but can they add a bit more to their games in terms of goals and assists? Get them some attackers ahead of them and let's find out.
