I tip all the time.

In my younger days, I used to bag groceries and was a car valet.

I usually add on around 15% or so for a tip. It's not just that people in the service sector get a raw deal when it comes to wages, it is also shows an expression of gratitude that someone has been metaphorically wiping my butt. I'm uncomfortable having people running around after me particularly those at the lowest end of the pecking order. I hate it when you can tell that those serving you really are desperate for cash. It's just not a nice feeling.

On the other hand, if I'm served by stooodent then they'll get zilch

And tipping isn't for yanks, its for people who work hard in an industry and get crap wages.

I get tipped everytime i go to work so feel its only right to tip other tipping jobs, but i always have really. I dont know if its just me but i tip the hairdresser? but not if its [Poor language removed]. I always tip when eating out but the service has to be good/friendly. My mum came down to visit me a few weeks back and i took her out to a decent restaurant in the afternoon, it was quiet but the waiters just stood around chatting almost ignoring me when im trying to get there attention! We were the only ones in at that point ffs. Needless to say they looked a bit disgruntled when i refused to tip and asked if the service charge was optional! I wouldnt mind tipping them one bit but youve got to [Poor language removed] earn it not just expect it.
