Barcelona midfielder Miralem Pjanic has tested positive for Covid-19, the Spanish club announced on Sunday.

The Bosnian, 30, is "feeling well", self-isolating at home and will travel to Barcelona in 15 days' time.

Pjanic is joining Barcelona from Serie A champions Juventus in a swap deal with Brazil international Arthur.

Barca, who finished the 2019-20 season without a trophy for the first time in 12 years, begin their 2020-21 La Liga campaign on 12 September.

Got to admire the job Hansi Flick has done, it's his triumph more than anything. An absolutely incredible achievement considering where they were when he took over, he emulates former Bayern manager Jupp Heynckes' 2013 treble too. (the manager immediately before Pep took over the season after the treble)

Amusing that Bayern went for Pep, considering how German coaches seem to be the pick of the bunch!

Still not as good as when Borussia Dortmund signed Paul Lambert on a free transfer from Motherwell. He ended up marking Zinedine Zidane out of the Champions League final and being named man of the match!
Have you got a source for that? I’ve heard this many times since (from people in the UK) but I don’t recall that being mentioned on the night.

With his two goals Riedle was surely was man of the match. First half ended with Dortmund 2-0 up but that could easily have been level. Zidane’s shot hit the post, Vieri hit the side netting and had a goal dubiously ruled out.

Regarding Zidane, while he was class at that time, he wasn’t at the level he would reach at his peak. His best year was 2000 when he dominated the Euros for France (categorically would have received the Balon d’Or but for a head-butt while playing for Juve). He was quite fortunate to win world player of the year (his first) in ‘98 as he got it for his 2 goals in the World Cup final (he’d done nothing prior to that, including a red card in the last 16 and being suspended for the quarters...the semi France progressed due to Lilian Thurams two goals)...meanwhile for Juve Zidane did nothing in the CL final months earlier which Real won). Ronaldo, the best player on the planet by a country mile, the World Cup ‘98 player of the tournament, would have been named world player of the year for the third time on the trot but for a convulsive fit hours before the World Cup final.

Zidane was labelled a nearly man in CL terms until he was saved by his volleyed winner in ‘02.

its often cited in articles on the final. Makes sense, as he marked Zidane out of the final and set up the first goal.
