Don't see either threatening. Definitely not Chelsea with that defence. They'll be great to watch but very inconsistent. United a long way off too.

None of the top 6 teams are a way off IMO. They're 2 or 3 top signings away from challenging. It's just how the league is.

Teams go from 10th or lower one season to champions the next, or improving by 20+ points from the last season ala Big Red did.

Is he really though?

Inherited a Barcelona side that were already superb.

Inherited Bayern who were European champions and in a totally uncompetitive league.

Inherited a City side with unlimited funds and no real sustained competition during his time in England.

No he isn’t.

He’s obviously a good caoach, but I agree with people saying he tries to over think things, it’s true.

His time at Bayern is a perfect example of why he is flawed really. The team he took over was immense, one of the best Bayern squads in recent history and he then got to add even more to it, and not losing players of note. Yet he couldn’t get them to a CL final either, let alone win it.

He inherited a Barca team that was in the process of tearing itself apart with the likes of Deco, Ronaldinho, Etoo doing whatever they wanted.

Pep brought git rid of them and brought through the likes of Pedro, Busquets and established Messi as the focal point of the team

Lyon derserved their win, City as usual poor in Europe when it matters.

Other countries clubs simply do not see them as a major threat or big name - no amount of money given to them can change that...

He is great at making the best out of players he already has. His signings at all his clubs have been questionable though. His hit rate isn’t great. He got left a squad at City that had a legendary spine of Kompany Fernandinho Toure Silva Aguero plus Sterling and De Bruyne in support. Apart from Laporte he’s not really bought anyone to replace any of those players effectively.
