My sense is that's not the kind of foul a ref wants to decide a major final on, so he gave it a pass and let VAR sort out whether or not it was the kind of penalty that *had* to be given.

To be fair, after the spectacular 3 3 thriller we witnessed yesterday at Bloomfield Road, the champions league final was always going to be a let down
