To some extent the modern game is better suited to younger players and Palace have before Eze pretty exclusively bought older guys. The squad also doesn't have much room for growth when it is stocked with fully developed players. It always felt like it might catch up to them. You can't really miss when you play it that way.

Yes. We have an excellent academy but the conversion rate is poor and the age / experience gap too big. Three or four more 23 /24 year olds needed.
