Today’s Football 2020/21 Season

I know the fixture list may point to an already decided time for a 'Covid' break (some teams including LIverpool don't have two fixtures on the week starting the 11th) but all the indications are now for a lockdown similar to the first one with shielding, schools closures and almost everything banned until Easter. According to the media lockdown by the middle of January or a lot sooner is almost certain. A further announcement on school closures is now expected as soon as this week.

With the way secure 'Covid' premier league bubbles are now being compromised and breached by a few players being prominent in our national media atm, prem league football is perhaps unlikely to be immune and may now have a few months long extended break forced upon it too.
I'd be very surprised if there was a major disruption to the season. It probably isn't right but at this point shutting down the league while other leagues in Europe aren't shuttered is going to cause serious issues to clubs and the national teams. I think there'll be enough pressure applied that it won't happen.

Kovacic instead of Havertz and Ziyech for CHO for me. Or you can play 4-2-3-1 with Kovacic and Kante and move Ziyech into the #10 spot if you want to play CHO, which I think they should want to do more.

Unfortunately for Havertz the role he played so well at Leverkusen doesn't seem to exist in this Chelsea side. But he doesn't seem to me like a good player when he's not in and around the box so I don't like him where you've got him.

Ziyech has to be in the picture when healthy. The 5 game run of starts he had pre-injury was Chelsea's best form and he's been pretty close to the best creative player in the league on a per 90 minute basis this season. I didn't watch closely today but I imagine he didn't do great on his return. I'd persist with him though.
Fair enough, Kovacic doesn't do it for me though.

Herein there is is a HUGE amount of specious, (bordering on spurious), commentary. I care little about Chelsea, RS, City and spurs and Arsenal...all I know is that we, us Evertonians, support a bunch of losers...a jelly fish colony of uselessness. We point the finger at others and cry “bottlers!!”...but make no mistake: we support the weakest kneed, most spineless team in football...they are a disgrace. That people cannot wait to fill Goodison again to support our disgraceful collection of mercenaries says everything about the meaningless existence too many lead...

I think they'd be very reluctant to do it but what's so different about the current rate of increase which started in the South East and most of mainland Europe atm is it's almost entirely the new variant which is driving the extra precautions and indeed proposed third national lockdown.

There are cases in mainland Europe but nothing like the prevelance which has made rates rocket in London, the South East, spreading to the East of England, Midlands and rapidly countrywide.

It's the new variant which is far more infectious and transmissible. Without the new variant Europe's major leagues have been able to cope. We're seeing increasingly more clubs hit by a Covid problem in England with Fulham just the latest in the top flight to cancel fixtures.

England may well be the first to act but then we have the variant spreading throughout the land, Europe is bound to follow when the variant becomes the predominant strain there, which it will.

What a pathetic thing to say.
