That’s what they do for a living.
The best idea with them is to phone in and when you (eventually) get through
tell their researcher exactly what they want to hear (otherwise you have no chance).
When you get live on air say the exact opposite. It certainly throws them!
you don’t stay on for long but it’s a good laugh if you have nothing better to do :)

I tried years ago ,straight through to jingle and adds.
Hung up asap.
Remember the early years when it was free and better presenters

If they don't get any callers they put a stooge on.
City fans have effectively boycotted the station so very
rarely, if ever, any phone in nowadays. Cue 'Dave from Stockport'
to phone in - who just happens to agree with every single criticism
of the team and the club they can think of. It is so obviously staged
it's laughable.

I can confirm this, they just people people in the studio on if there's no caller
