That's fantastic news. It's a plague within the sport, is gambling, and it's incredibly dangerous. I've first hand experience within my family of what gambling can do to people. If it's not on the kit it's on the billboards, if it's not on the billboards it's on the teams' social media accounts "video sponsored by XYZ", or whatever.

This would only be half the battle, though. You cannot watch a game without the constant gambling adverts trying to make it appear fun and totally not addictive. If you try to avoid a live game and watch Soccer Saturday instead then you can't even avoid it there as they are pushing their own gambling platform onto you.

There needs to be many drastic changes to gambling and sports.

I’m a punter.

I have no idea who sponsors who anymore. Does anyone pay attention ?

Course they do (for me, more widely the issue is the constant gambling promotion and the fact that it's everywhere). It's fine if you're a punter, I wouldn't tell anybody whether they should or shouldn't gamble.

But it's the exposure to young and/or vulnerable people that is the huge issue. It's become accepted as just being "part of the game", i.e. that you cannot or maybe should not enjoy the game without having a little flutter on it, as if it adds to the fun or suspense.

I've seen within my family people taking our payday loans to chase their losses on gambling websites, staying up all hours to gamble on sports they have no idea about but "some guy reckons it's a dead cert". It ruins families and definitely causes people to commit suicide once they're hooked and see no way out with their debts racking up.

When you go to the game, it's all about putting a scorecast or an accy on. You never win (or rarely, but definitely over the course of a season don't end up on top), but people do it anyway because it's 'normal'.

By the way, I gamble every now and again myself. Gambling in itself is fine so long as you know of the risks and gamble what you can afford to lose.

I’m with you 100% with this. Gambling advertising shd be banned. My kids are surrounded by it and can’t see why we dont bet on every odds advertised.

Couldn’t agree more, I was watching the golf last night & noticed in three ad breaks there was one non gambling ad - bizarrely for coconut yogurt

No doubt dour Davey will [Poor language removed] his kecks today with cowards footy against the rs - hope I'm wrong, but we've still got the taint of his shithousery and cowards mentality stinking our club out, and the acceptance of mediocrity - Carlos working on it like.

I second @maccavennie "hoped" for results - make yesterday's disgrace a little easier to take.
