Mateta making his debut up front. Looks promising and more mobile than the usual subjects. Just haven’t been able to find him. Eze being sat on by 2-3 of them. Ayew out on his feet. Need not to concede another for a bit and see what transpires.

...inserting myself into this debate...i would be interested to see how the game would change should top level teams and coaches have a year or so to figure the implications. Im not sure the reasoning that applied when the rule was first put in place would still apply today with modern tactics, modern ball, and modern fitness.

Simple - offside rule is to prevent attackers having an advantage.

If no advantage = no offside.

Your hand being offside gives no advantage to a player scoring with his foot.

That's not a rule

Palace are woeful so far. Take Zaha (& maybe Townsend) out of that team and its poor. Maybe Eze, but obviously he's one for the future.
